Episode LXXXIII: This Took an Odd Turn

New Episode

An episode over 10 years in the making. Alright that’s a lie this one took a week. But it’s still chock full of goodies. Give it a listen to hear our funny commentary on Gay Dumbledore, the Govanator, and other subjects of wonder. Click for enlightenment. Oh and the Darwin Award is disturbing. Just FYI.

Hopefully we’ll get more feedback this week so we don’t have to fall back on our own topics. I forgot how hard it is to come up with topics on our own. Stop making us work!

Also this week I’m testing out a new editing technique that makes it so the show sound mixes itself! What does this mean to you? Well hopefully better audio quality and background music that is never too loud or soft. Be sure to let me know what you think about the background music levels this week.

And now, as promised, is the best clips from our generations most inexplicable cultural phenomenon (shudder) Twilight. I’ve never seen the whole movie (I have testicles you see) so I can’t give an accurate synopsis of this film. I can, however, tell you that this movie is the most corny stupid thing I’ve ever seen (and I watched Rise of Cobra). The guys providing the hilarious commentary are Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy, and Bill Corbett. But you all know them better as Mike, Tom Servo, and Crow from Mystery Science Theater 3000. Enjoy.

The Gamers movie I actually semi offensive towards its audience. Imagine a movie about any group of people that belongs to the official minorities. Then make a movie that depicts them like cartoons and use every stereotype you can imagine. Then you market the film to that group.
The only thing a movie like that is doing is strengthening the conception that games are basically murder simulators.

I watched the first half of twilight. Now despite my previous comments I really wanted to like that movie because I like the concept of vampires (I had not heard anything about the movie or book previous to the viewing) and all I could think while watching was that this is a really bad movie. only then I realized what kind of material they were working with and I forgave it. The movie Is made for those who liked the book and the book is really bad.

And don’t Spoil “9″! I don’t know when it will be shown in Sweden but from the trailer I want to see it without spoilers and thats a one movie a year deal.

The problem with giving topics to you guys is that you are funny and I am not but you want topics?

Ninjas or Pirates! Who are the coolest and why?
    Isnt Lego great?
How do you imagine the Next Next Gen Platform? (How would you want it to look)
    Competitions?
    Black Mail Osiris.
What would Pokemon be like in real life?

thats all ive got. Have fun at “9″!

  2. Joshua J Steinberg says:

Oh! Oh! Also watch Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog and talk about that and if you don’t like it I will stop listening to the show.

  3. ojii says:

    walrus king’s

  4. ojii says:

    breakfast!

  5. Walrus King says:

you can’t probably tell because as far as i know, i am alone in this room, but that made me laugh very much. thank you.

  6. Joshua J Steinberg says:

But what does he eat for dinner?

  7. Theremin says:

The flesh of weaker walruses. What else could it be?

  8. Joshua J Steinberg says:

No. We like Walruses here. He wouldn’t hurt them because he is their King!

  9. Theremin says:

    What about other water-bourne mammals?

  10. ojii says:

according to the source of all knowledge walruses eat hell a lot of different stuff. But none of them (except maybe shrimps) seemed worthy for a king.

So I suggest that as the Walrus King he eats teenage vampires!

  11. Joshua J Steinberg says:

Would you eat them? Just because you can doesn’t mean you want to (that applies to shrimp and teenage vampires).

    More topic starters:
    Food preferences

BTW. I know the last Poll kind of booched but I don’t think you should drop it. Its Good to have as a base for comments.

  12. Joshua J Steinberg says:

Also: Does Theremin own a theremin?

  13. Theremin says:

Theremin wishes he owned a theremin.

  14. Joshua J Steinberg says:

Its probably the coolest instrument in the world. perhaps next to the one where john cleese plays small furry animals with a mallet. I have long entertained the Idea of building one. It shouldn’t be that hard… right?

  15. Dr. Disaster says:

No harder than a Tesla Coil I imagine.

  16. Theremin says:

And you would know, being a supervillain?

  17. Joshua J Steinberg says:

If hes going to be Super he will have to do much better than a Tesla coil. Good decorations for you hide out tough.

  18. Joshua J Steinberg says:

Oh I found a type of Darwin Award In the paper today.
45 year old Austrian Gunter Links Got terrified one day when he got stuck in the elevator. Being a deeply religious man he prays to God for his rescue and in a short while the elevator was fixed since it was a minor technical error that stopped it. Convinced that it was divine intervention he went to a church to thank God properly.
later that day his family became worried that he had not returned home after his encounter with the reaper the family called the police and reported him missing. The later found Gunter in the church crushed under a 200kg heavy altar. Further investigation showed that Gunter had hugged the pillar holding the large altar and somehow broke it.

I can personally only assume that this is the first Intelligent Design Award ever.

I wanted to post a link but since its a Swedish magazine I doubt its much use.

  19. Joshua J Steinberg says:

heres the English one. Good thing Swedish newspapers never write their own material.

  20. Walrus King says:

to answer the question fifty posts up about what i do ieat, the flesh of weaker walruses is correct. read also: insubordinate walruses.

  21. Dr. Disaster says:

In this episode I was magic. That was fun.

  22. Texastechie says:

Hehe yeah I like the idea of hearing a *ding* sound every time something miraculous happens.

Btw, who sings that Smells Like Teen Spirit cover in Beating an Old Horse with Your Foot? I really liked it but I can’t find it… I liked the Walrus King’s song this week again too :] I also like the idea of having similar taste in music as a member of the Walrus Monarchy.

My dad’s friend saw Gamer and he said it had too much action. Which I didn’t think existed before the Matrix sequels.

I’m going to expound on the food topic and ask if you guys are fans of sushi :o

  23. Walrus King says:

very much a fan of sushi. getting some before i see the yeah yeah yeahs tomorrow night. hooray!

    glad you liked the song!

  24. Dr. Disaster says:

Yeah and how bout that Miyazaki music…(begins weeping in the corner because no-one likes my song picks)

  25. Texastechie says:

I figured it went without saying that I enjoyed your Miyazaki picks since the other listeners and I had a discussion of them recently. But yeah I absolutely adore that song! Gives me goose bumps every time ^_^ I’m tryin to think of another song from his movies I like but nothing comes to mind… Its just that and the part in Castle in the Sky where the little boy plays his trumpet in the morning when he lets his birds out.

And now I have to go watch that scene on youtube…

Oh and I wanted to ask what Walrus King is going to school for. I think he said something about making movies…

  26. Walrus King says:

i’m actually not going to school. i’m an aspiring filmmaker, actor, writer and comedian, and i’m in the process of moving to new york to turn some of these things into real.

  27. Ollie says:

Hello. Here’s a topic idea! Talk more about how awesome Britain and its inhabitants are! It makes me feel awesome, especially knowing that only a few people will get the references. (Ah, The Sun, chortle chortle chortle)

  28. Theremin says:

I wholeheartedly approve the above statement.
    *Razz* colonials!

  29. Joshua J Steinberg says:

A British Episode would be funny. Instead of Villainy Inc it will be called “Disaster & Kings splendind Interweb Radio.
Because England only have family companies with long names.
And the whole podcast will be about cricket and limes. And after every segment the must drink tee for the queen. And while recoding they must both wear Bowler hats. Now you might say that its a Podcast and we wont be able to see them but thats how I will imagine them.
Wait a sec… *ding* Now they are! Its like magic!

  30. Dr. Disaster says:

Holy crap I am so in! We’ll be sure to do a Swedish Episode too!

  31. Joshua J Steinberg says:

you talk like the Swedish chef an entire episode?

  32. Theremin says:

    Can I vote for a Russian/Nigerian episode?

  33. Texastechie says:

You could do a New Zealand episode and make a big deal when somebody asks if you’re British or Austrailian… But I guess that would only make for 15 minutes of content : /

  34. Ollie says:

Well, Texastechie, Australians say ‘Where’s the car?’, but New Zealanders say ‘Where’s the car?’. Loses a lot of humour when written, but the reference is still there…

  35. Texastechie says:

Oh thats like saying that Bostonians say, The cah not too fah from the yahd and Texans say The carr down the way raught chair *pointing* Which also loses some meaning in text form :P

  36. Texastechie says:

Also, Bowie’s in Space is my favorite song right now <3

  37. Theremin says:

I would hope that you will all take the time to check out my Sugarlumps.

  38. Texastechie says:

Oh yeah you’re probably the prettiest girl in the room right now. If I saw you walking down the street, you might be the nicest looking girl on that particular street at that moment. xP

  39. Dr. Disaster says:

Ugh there’s too many dicks on the dance floor!

  40. Theremin says:

    Good thing I’m the,
    Hip-hopapottamous,
    my rhymes are bottomless…

  41. Joshua J Steinberg says:

I see massive amounts of references here (either that or your all crazy) and all of them went straight over my head.

  42. Ollie says:

It’s a shame. You should really check out Flight of the Conchords. Anyway, back to the quotes!

‘Some people think rappers are invincible. Well we’re not… We’re vincible…’

  43. Theremin says:

    “That’s ridiculous!”
    “No, it’s quite diculous…”

  44. Ollie says:

That’s just a totally different reference altogether. God, Theremin, keep it consistent.

  45. Theremin says:

I do apologise if I offended your delicate sensibilities.

  46. Dr. Disaster says:

Well now that that’s dead what did everyone think about the mix for the background music? Too load? Too soft? If it was perfect I’ll keep this as the stranded for all future episodes.

  47. Theremin says:

    No complaints.

  48. Joshua J Steinberg says:

Not to be they guy who always whines but I would say it could be slightly louder. Could be my headphones tough.

  49. Theremin says:

This is a really wanky thing to do, but I couldn’t help myself:

Villainy Inc.’s first ever 50th comment!

    Wahey etc.
