Another Friday, another episode. I’ll add more to this post when I think of something to write.

Once again I’m experimenting with the sound mix. This week I bumped the background music up one decibel. Let me know if it’s too loud.
Speaking of things being too loud, FARTING! Farting was discussed at length in this episode, and I can’t think of a better clip to illustrate our point than this scene from Blazing Saddles. Little piece of trivia, when this scene is shown on television they have to mute the audio! Evidently these farts are cursing as they come out.

Why do Dr. Disasters farts sound like Ms Piggy?
The background sound was perfect for me.

I would also like to mention that none of these are “kids stuff”
-Cowboy Bebop episode 5. (start with that if you just want a taste of it and watch the rest if you like it.)
-Steam Boy (the reason for its high rating is largely due to my love for steampunk but its a good flick by any standard.)
-Neon genesis evangelion (this needs to be watched to the end and the Movie “end of evangelion. it will fuck you up.)
-Full metal panic fumoffu (theres a season before this just called Full metal panic but you can read the back to get the gist of it because fumoffu is just funny.)
-Death note (could be read as manga because they are interchangeable )
-Full Metal Alchemist (The first part is good but it kind of derails after that and don’t watch the movie)
-Trigun (The First episodes are slow but to give it justice you need to watch the whole thing)
-Gundam Seed (the best Gundam series ive seen and in extension best Mecha)
-First and second arch of Bleach (I dont know how far into this Dr. D is but the rest of the series is a waste time.)
-First arch of Naruto (it gets very repetitive further into the show)
-Hellsing ultimate (this one is a horror series and have lots of weird stuff)
those are the ones I can remember right now.
you should also see the Miyazaki stuff too but those are more works of art than anything and should be watched regardless.
Hey J. I’ve seen SteamBoy, Eva, Trigun, and 2 episodes of Gundam Seed.
Loved Steamboy and I thought Trigun has been one of the best sereies to balance action, drama, and humor.
I didn’t really dig Eva (nerdcore audience please don’t lynch me!). Not that I think it’s bad, I just don’t think I was smart enough to get it. I kept getting really confused about story elements, and the movie was just one big blur to me. However once I graduate from MIT I might be able to understand it haha.
Cowboy Bebop and Gundam Seed unfortunately succumbed to “I didn’t get into a grove watching it and something else came up so I had to stop” Syndrome. I really like what I saw of both of them. Man I really need to get watching those again.
I also keep watching Naruto and Bleach. I don’t hate filler, but it’s definitely not the best writing for story arks. Right now Bleach just got out of the bout saga so I’m really enjoying it again.

when i wear down my netflix list a bit more, i will start taking a look at these and refer back to this list. thanks, all.

I agree with NGE mentioned earlier but I also strongly suggest FLCL, it’s messed up and awesome and on top of that it also has a perfect length of only 6 episodes!
About the site reconstructions, you villains are aware that it’s possible to install webservers locally to test stuff? Other brilliant web developers such as myself do that all the time so as not to mess up live websites too much…
most people don’t get Eva and I certainly didn’t at first glance. You really need to pay attention to get it or have a really smart friend that i had.
the reason I always recommend it is because its really really well made and every single frame is important. every comment and every pause. you might not like it or even understand it but i think you should watch it because everyone thats into anime should know about it.
If you really didn’t understand it at all I would like to recommend a certain podcast that I am not sure I should Link to here. but on the other hand its nothing like this podcast so I guess its ok.
If you dont want me recommending other podcasts here you can always remove it right?

OH I TOTALLY FORGOT FLCL! Yeah that show is great too. It’s fun, it’s weird, it’s a total blast to watch.
And you can thank M for the L’Acr’Ceil (I can’t spell it) music. She’s the one obsessed with Japanese and Korean bands and turned me onto this song. Also helps that it’s awesome.
So! I have an anime to suggest for walrus king, possibly the nerdiest show of all time.

Just take some time to take that in. Lessee… 5 words, 11 syllables. Actually it’s like if the Hitchhiker’s guide to the galaxy were a sitcom. Very similar humor. A gay esper. Godlike alien who speaks in superfast MYSQL code backwards. Moe time traveler. So yeah. Wierd. Also, they showed it in the states in the wrong order.
how could i have forgotten that one! just place it after FLCL on my list. I dont know what order Dr. Taco is referring to but there are 2 orders.
chronological and airing order. they intentionally jumbled the episodes in the original airing and left background elements in order to let you know where you are on the time line.
the artistic side of me say you should try it out because if forces you to pay attention but the practical side of me tells you to screw it and see the episodes in the chronological order. the story is great either way. you don’t need to make something that great “artsy”, its just bullshit.
that would be a 12 episode series right? I know they are airing a second season but they are doing it even weirder than the first so I recommend ignoring it.

You bring up the words “brilliant web developers.” Therein lies the problem. We are not web savy. We’re not even podcast savy. We’re over 80 episodes in and we barely got the mix for the background music right!
We’re just a small group of people who one day decided to make a show. We wish we knew how to do all these cool things, but unfortunately we don’t. We also can’t pay people to do it for us so we have to make do.
You failed at friend planning. you should always have a computer nerd as a friend.
