Episode LXXXV: Life in Beta

Why does this image have relevance to the episode? Listen to find out…

This week I was joined by webcomic artist extraordinaire Rosscott. It’s a great episode and I’d like to thank Rosscott for filling in while Walrus King was away. Click the link below to listen.

You can find Rosscott’s comic, The System, by clicking here. Always great stuff. One of my favorites has to be this one. Why you ask? BECAUSE I AM THIS GUY! And be sure to give him some love for his 1 year anniversary. Over 200 comics in one year. That means in 10 years he’ll have made over 2,000 comics! Or die from exhaustion. Whichever comes first.

You can also find Rosscott’s new podcast, The Wonderful World of Webcomics (or WWOW if your lazy and slow and annoying and no-one likes you at school and they call you pizza face and you’re secretly in love with Susie Reynolds who sits next to you). It’s a really good podcast, really interesting if you’re into webcomics (as I expect most or you are).

In the episode Rosscott and I discussed Beatles Rock Band. Not many people know this, but one of my favorite animated films is Yellow Submarine. You probably all know by now I’m an animation whore, and Yellow Submarine is a great experience that stays with you after you watch it. Now enjoy one of the best sequences from the entire film, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.

    Excellent podcast I must say.
If you can use a computer you are that guy per definition. I have the perfect solution for the problem.
    you print this: http://www.xkcd.com/627/
on small cards and give them to anyone who ask questions you dont know.
you know what you can do about the time shortage Dr. D? you can buy one of those CD things that have Beatles musik on them and play them in your computer machine. then you can do stuff while listening to good music. you dont even have to press colorful buttons to make it sound good. Congratulations! you have doubled yor productivity (To play games like puzzle pirates :-D )

Holy crap J that flow chart is exactly what I do EVER TIME! I keep telling my family this but they still think I’m a “computer wiz.”

Well you see J, there are some people who like to hit the colored buttons because we like to trick ourselves into thinking we’re actually playing real instruments. Sure I could get the new CDs, but that doesn’t let me pretend I’m Ringo.

That flow chart is what we all do. its almost funny how non computer people thinks its magic. I am of the opinion that Artificial intelligence is the only logical in technology. The shit technology will do by then will be so advanced that in order for it to be useful for the common man you need to be able to tell it what to do.
Have you played the any of the Megaman.EXE games? that is what I want my mobile phone to be like (but used in a practical way.)

Hm… Of all the people in The Beatles you want to be Ringo?! I would go for Paul any day. He had talent and he got to get old.

Did you play the WET demo? I was actually impressed with that game. kick ass music, Nice visuals and excellent level of control. they had to use a quick time events tough but game developers today seems to have a hard on for that stuff. (And that is the best review you will ever get out of me :-p)

  5. Theremin says:

If you play as Paul there’s an unlockable minigame where you have to hide sacks of cash in a mansion while being pursued by a psychotic amputee.

It’s a brilliant satire on the textile industry.
