Godzilla commentary track is available now!

Ho ho ho bag everyone! As promised we now present to you our commentary track for the 1998 remake Godzilla. Evidently you guys love crushing my childhood memories, so give it a listen to hear our take on the movie. Also be prepared for us to get off topic OFTEN. I’m guessing 40%of this commentary is us talking about the actual movie, while the other 60% is us talking about movies you should be watching instead of this one.
You can download it here:
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
Also it wasn’t until after recording this track that I found out that this commentary might be a little tricky to sync up to the movie. We counted down from 3 and told you to hit play for the movie, but we we’re using a copy I bought off iTunes. I’m not sure if DVD copies put warnings and advertisements after you hit play from the DVD menu. Just know that after we say “one” the Tristar logo slowly fades up from black.
Also be warned that since this was not really an episode, we’re really causal in this track. That means you’ll hear us swear a bit more than in regular episodes. Not that I think any of you really care if we use profane language, but just thought I warn anyway.
I really should have announced this earlier (I had finals, I think that excuse is valid) but I did not video record ourselves giving the commentary. This was done for 2 reasons.
1) The more I was planning this the more I realized that you really can’t make footage of two people watching a movie interesting. Also the rig we had set up to do this really wasn’t cinematically stunning. It was basically us in two chairs watching the movie on my laptop.
2) Me cutting together the footage would have delayed the commentary track for about 2 months (I’m lazy. I’ll admit it.) As I was trying to figure out how to make the footage more interesting, I considered adding more camera angles, music, ect. All of this would just delay the thing you guys really wanted which was the commentary track.
Oh and the website now has over 1,000 comments! And to think only 854 of them are J.

Hey! I asked for for the ability to comment. you spent time setting it up. It would be rude not to use it. who made the 1000 comment?
Just btw, Netflix has Godzilla as an instant play movie! So if you’re like me and you don’t want to spend your dad’s hard earned bucks- or “quids” as i believe the british might call them- on crappy remakes just to hear a humorous commentary, then this is the solution to that little problem
I wonder what thoughts were from the others after this a.k.a. Dr. Disaster, WK, Sir Michael (if he is just watching us), M and Osiris.

Joshua J Steinberg:
“lol. Zelda games are piss easy. except the first 2. those are just weird.
I say Prince of Persia sands of time.
Braid should have it for all puzzles because people will go look up walk troughs anyway. you might as well incorporate it in the game.”
I’m pretty sure this counts as a rotten borough.
I’ll get post 1111! Don’t try to stop me!
‘godzilla’ (‘gojira’ in japanese) is ‘gorilla’ + ‘whale’
Also the Walrus King hasn’t seen any miyazaki movie yet? Okay mate, stop it! Stop whatever you do right now! I don’t care if you’re donating an organ to a dying kid, that can wait! Go watch a miyazaki movie RIGHT NOW! You ignorant fool! Your life is meaningless until you’ve seen at least 3 of his movies!
Also I demand a medal:
A few weeks ago I watched this movie at a mates house (drunk of course). Now I watch it AGAIN with your silly commentary! The whole thing!
Also I do agree with Dr.D: The music is awesome! Now I’ll have to go recover from sever godzilla watching, not sure how yet. Maybe with a lot of booze. If I die of alcohol poisoning tonight, it’s your fault, Dr D.
About the “how did he get to NY part”: Are you both complete idiots?? He swam (that’s why he destroyed the fisher boat) and then walked over panama (several times it says “panama” on the screen to inform you where you are). That “random street” was in panama! Those footsteps where godzilla walking to the atlantic…
What bothers me more is why the hell did godzilla have such a huge desire to visit NYC? I mean it’s really not that awesome, I was there twice and there’s better places out there to destroy…
Also of course france has an army. Jean Reno is their army! That guy is so badass, he’ll kick your little sissy marines into their rear end.
Will there be a regular episode this week?
I actually took my first date to this movie (not my idea it was a group thing). Long story short the date sucked and I missed like half the movie. I tried to watch it again with the commentary, and just couldn’t quite finish it haha. I commend all who can sit through this even with commentary that makes fun of the movie and says the things your thinking out loud.
Ok. I have watched the movie with the track.
First of all I would like to say that this is the first time seeing the movie and I would probably not have seen it at all if it weren’t for you guys (shame on you.)
I cant say that the movie was good but if I had too erase one movie from memory I would pick transformers 2 before this one.
I think my video was running too fast or sound too slow because I had to constantly pause the movie in order to match the audio back up again (the “wait for it” talk was useful since I could pause and play when the thing happened.)
